Mr PNC Menon, our visionary founder, established the Sri Kurumba Educational and Charitable Trust in 1994 in Palakkad, Kerala, with a deep commitment to compassionate, holistic social development. The Trust leads a range of philanthropic initiatives to uplift and empower the most vulnerable in society, focusing on the grama panchayats of Kizhakkenchery, Vadakkenchery, and Kannambra.
Our work prioritises women-focused development, recognising that empowering women is essential for sustainable progress. Initiatives span education, healthcare, social rehabilitation, elderly care, and sustainability, all tailored to support economically weaker sections of the community.
A hallmark of the Trust is its unwavering commitment to offering all programmes entirely free of charge. We are fully self-funded, maintaining the highest standards of integrity and independence without any external financial support.
Our philanthropic initiatives have achieved measurable improvements, including reduced alcoholism, better hygiene, and enhanced health standards. Through a strong emphasis on education, hundreds of children from resource limited backgrounds have accessed higher education at leading institutions in India and abroad, many now driving positive change in their communities.
A flagship project is The SOBHA Academy, a premier CBSE K-12 school providing world-class education and comprehensive support to students from disadvantaged families—demonstrating our belief that education is the foundation for lasting social transformation. The Academy follows the CBSE syllabus which is student-oriented and believes in experimental learning in classrooms. This syllabus is ideal for students from BPL families as it gives equal importance to academics and co-curricular activities; it reduces the dropout rate as there is less fear and anxiety related to performance.
Every student gets ample opportunity to display their talents through various competitions like Recitation, Essay Writing, Story Writing, Poetry Writing & Slogan Writing are held to showcase the talents of the students. These competitions are held House wise. The students are divided into four houses Akash, Agni, Bhoomi, Vayu.
